A poet said “To see a world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wild flower hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in ahour. Several days ago I had a chance to listen to a lecture. I learnt a lot there. I‘d like to share it with all of you. Let‘s show our right palms. We can see three lines that show how our love.career and life is. I have a short line of life. What about yours? I wondered whether we could see our future in this way. Well let‘s make a fist. where is our future? where is our love career and life? Tell me.Yeah it is in our hands. It is held in ourselves.

We all want the future to be better than the past. But the future can go better itself. Don‘t cry because it is over smile because it happened. From the past we‘ve learnt that the life is tough but we are tougher. We‘ve learnt that we can‘t choose how we feel but we can choose what

about it. Failure doesn‘t mean you don‘t have it it does mean you should do it in a different way. Failure doesn‘t mean you should give up it does mean you must try harder.

As what I said at the beginning “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book whose pages are infinite”. The past has gone. Nothing we do will change it. But the future is in front of us. Believe that what we give to the world the world will give to us. And from today on let‘s be the owners of ourselves and speak out “We are the world we are the future.”

  Ladies and gentlemen: Good morning!

Today, the title of my speech is A Lesson from Nature.

Around us , there are plants, animals and many other things. We live in nature, so to keep the balance of nature is very important for us. But today, too many trees are still being cut down in many countries and flood all over the world are getting more and more serious, A lot of land has gone with them. This is a lesson from nature.

When people move into a new place, they often cut down trees or pull out many wild plants to make farmland. They don’t know that trees can stop flood and wind from washing or blowing the earth away, and that many of these wild plants are food for some wild animals. If the animals can’t find enough plants to eat, they will die or have to leave the place.

In one part of the United States, for example, the deer there like to eat a kind of wild flowers. The mountain tigers there eat the deer. But people killed many mountain tigers to protect the deer. soon there were so many deer that the ate up all the wild flowers. Then the deer began to eat the green leaves of the young trees .so the farmers thought of ways to protect their trees, then the deer had nothing to eat and many of them died.

The number of trees, deer, tigers, wild flowers and plants has changed much—less and less. We need to do more to keep the balance of nature.

  Thank you!

My mother is an ordinary teacher. She always puts her students beforeeverything. She is nothing different from other people at the first sight. Butlater you will find that she is so responsible. In my mind, she is very great. On weekends, she always prepare the class at home. Sometimes she even ask thestudents to come to our house for remediation for free. All her students likeher. Sometimes I almost envy her students. Luckily, my mother also very careabout me. she puts all her time on our family and her students, leaving nothingfor herself. She is so great, and I proud of her; and I love her.

A general dictionary defines teamwork as a "Cooperative or coordinated effort on the part of a group of persons acting together as a team or in the interests of a common cause unison for a higher cause people working together for a selfless purpose and so on."Applied to workplaces teamwork is a method that aligns employee mindsets in a cooperative and usually selfless manner towards a specific business purpose.

Today there is no business or organization that does not talk about the need and value of teamwork in the workplace. While the concept of teamwork and its benefits are well known and talked about it is very rare to see it being practiced truly in reality. And you may have often noticed what appears outwardly as teamwork is not really teamwork internally. Some things cannot be accomplished by people working individually. Larger more ambitious goals usually require that people work together with other people. Because of this teamwork is a desired goal of many businesses and organizations today. Projects often require that people work together in order to accomplish a common goal. Although critics often argue that in the corporate world teamwork has become an empty buzzword or a form of corporate-speak. Effective collaborative skills are necessary to work well in a team environment. As businesses and organizations become larger or more sophisticated. Many employers attempt to enhance their employees' collaborative efforts through training cross-training and workshops in order to help people effectively work together in a cohesive group and accomplish shared goals.

Human beings are fiercely independent animals and we will always have our own opinions and independent methods of doing something. This is the way our minds are hardwired by nature. Except for a very small percentage of us sharing and collaboration with others is not exactly programmed inside each and every one of us. This is because each person is mainly concerned about his or her rewards appreciation need for power over others and so on. But teamwork is a different ballgame that aligns mindsets in a cooperative and usually selfless manner towards a specific business purpose. And it involves sacrifices sharing of rewards sharing the blame and punishments true uniformity suppression of personal opinions etc. which is not very palatable to many. It is always "What is in it for me" rather than "What is in it for us.

In order for teamwork to succeed one must be a teamplayer. A Teamplayer is one who subordinates personal aspirations and works in a coordinated effort with other members of a group or team in striving for a common goal. Businesses and other organizations often go to the effort of coordinating team building events in an attempt to get people to work as a team rather than as individuals.

A 20xx national representative survey HOW-FAIR revealed that Americans think that 'being a team player' was the most important factor in getting ahead in the workplace. This was ranked higher than several factors including 'merit and performance' 'leadership skills' 'intelligence' 'making money for the organization' and 'long hours'.

“The old structures are being reformed. As organizations seek to become more flexible in the face of rapid environmental change and more responsive to the needs of customers they are experimenting with new team-based structures”.

  Good morning everyone!

My name is Jie Lidi. Today, my topic is: “Confidence”. As we all know, failure is the mother of success. But What I want to say is that success is the child of confidence. Without confidence, things can becom#e negative and uncom#fortable. I remember, during an English class, I wanted to make a sentence using the word "listen". I should have said: "I listen to the Voice of America" but I was too nervous and said "I listen to the Noise of America". Everybody in the class laughed. Since then I wanted to train myself to be confident. Now, confidence makes me brave and courageous. Take this speech for example. I wanted to enter this com#petition, but I would feel very embarrassed if I made mistakes. Just then, I thought about my dream. My dream is to becom#e a scientist when I grow up. If I am not confident, how can I overcom#e difficulties I face? If I am not confident, how can I succeed in developing myself in the future? I will do it! Today, I am making a speech in public and I feel proud and confident!

I am sure, in the future, with confidence, I will go forward-always forward. Confidence will make my dreams com#e true!

  Thank you!

In the summer recess between freshman and sophomore years in college, I wasinvited to be an instructor at a high school leadership camp hosted by a collegein Michigan. I was already highly involved in most campus activities, and Ijumped at the opportunity.

About an hour into the first day of camp, amid the frenzy of icebreakersand forced interactions, I first noticed the boy under the tree. He was smalland skinny, and his obvious discomfort and shyness made him appear frail andfragile. Only 50 feet away, 200 eager campers were bumping bodies, playing, joking and meeting each other, but the boy under the tree seemed to want to beanywhere other than where he was. The desperate loneliness he radiated almoststopped me from approaching him, but I remembered the instructions from thesenior staff to stay alert for campers who might feel left out.

As I walked toward him I said, “Hi, my name is Kevin and I’m one of thecounselors. It’s nice to meet you. How are you?”

In a shaky, sheepish voice he reluctantly answered, “Okay, I guess.”

I calmly asked him if he wanted to join the activities and meet some newpeople. He quietly replied, “No, this is not really my thing.”

I could sense that he was in a new world, that this whole experience wasforeign to him. But I somehow knew it wouldn’t be right to push him, either. Hedidn’t need a pep talk, he needed a friend. After several silent moments, myfirst interaction with the boy under the tree was over.

At lunch the next day, I found myself leading camp songs at the top of mylungs for 200 of my new friends. The campers were eagerly participated. My gazewandered over the mass of noise and movement and was caught by the image of theboy from under the tree, sitting alone, staring out the window. I nearly forgotthe words to the song I was supposed to be leading. At my first opportunity, Itried again, with the same questions as before: “How are you doing? Are youokay?”

To which he again replied, “Yeah, I’m all right. I just don’t really getinto this stuff. ”

As I left the cafeteria, I too realized this was going to take more timeand effort than I had thought — if it was even possible to get through to him atall.

That evening at our nightly staff meeting, I made my concerns about himknown. I explained to my fellow staff members my impression of him and askedthem to pay special attention and spend time with him when they could.

The days I spend at camp each year fly by faster than any others I haveknown. Thus, before I knew it, mid-week had dissolved into the final night ofcamp and I was chaperoning the “last dance”. The students were doing all theycould to savor every last moment with their new “best friends” — friends theywould probably never see again.

As I watched the campers share their parting moments, I suddenly saw whatwould be one of the most vivid memories of my life. The boy from under the tree, who stared blankly out the kitchen window, was now a shirtless dancing wonder. He owned the dance floor as he and two girls proceeded to cut up a rug. Iwatched as he shared meaningful, intimate time with people at whom he couldn’teven look just days earlier. I couldn’t believe it was him. In October of mysophomore year, a late-night phone call pulled me away from my chemistry book. Asoft-spoken, unfamiliar voice asked politely, “Is Kevin there?”

“You’re talking to him. Who’s this?”

“This is Tom Johnson’s mom. Do you remember Tommy from leadership camp?”

The boy under the tree. How could I not remember? “Yes, I do”, I said.“He’s a very nice young man. How is he?”

An abnormally long pause followed, then Mrs. Johnson said, “My Tommy waswalking home from school this week when he was hit by a car and killed.”Shocked, I offered my condolences.

“I just wanted to call you”, she said, “because Tommy mentioned you so manytimes. I wanted you to know that he went back to school this fall withconfidence. He made new friends. His grades went up. And he even went out on afew dates. I just wanted to thank you for making a difference for Tom. The lastfew months were the best few months of his life.”

In that instant, I realized how easy it is to give a bit of yourself everyday. You may never know how much each gesture may mean to someone else. I tellthis story as often as I can, and when I do, I urge others to look out for theirown “boy under the tree.”

Ladies and Gentlemen, Good morning! I’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech.

Man’s life is a process of growing up, actually I’m standing here is a growth. If a person’s life must constituted by various choices, then I grow up along with these choices. Once I hope I can study in a college in future, however that’s passed, as you know I come here, now I wonder what the future holds for me.

When I come to this school, I told to myself: this my near future, all starts here. Following I will learn to become a man, a integrated man, who has a fine body, can take on important task, has independent thought, an open mind, intensive thought, has the ability to judge right and wrong, has a perfect job.

Once my teacher said :” you are not sewing, you are stylist; never forget which you should lay out to people is your thought, not craft.” I will put my personality with my interest and ability into my study, during these process I will combine learning with doing. If I can achieve this “future”, I think that I really grow up. And I deeply believe kindred, good-fellowship and love will perfection and happy in the future.

How to say future? Maybe it’s a nice wish. Lets make up our minds, stick to it and surely well enjoy our life.

Everyone! Now I want to talk about a beautiful world!

When I was young,I always dreamed that I lived in a beautiful country. There were many flowers and trees around our city.We could hear the birds singing and see the children dancing. The streets were clear and the the air was very fresh! How nice it was! As is known to all , we have a beautiful world .we can see the sun shining. we can see the moon in a full view. we can see the birds flying in the sky. we can see the horses running on the plain. But that only was a dream of mine! The world is not as beautiul as before, for human beings have brought a disaster to the world. How I wish that it would be come true! So I think we should do something to protect our environment.

However, there are still many problems of environmental protection in recent years. One of the most serious problems is the serious pollution of air, water and soil. the polluted air does great harm to people’s health. The polluted water causes diseases and death. What is more, vegetation had been greatly reduced with the rapid growth of modern cities. On the one hand, the environment pollution and destruction are getting worse and worse in the modern world. On the other hand, the lack of knowledge about the importance of protecting environment hinders the solving of the problem. In a word, there is a long way to go before we enjoy a clean and comfortable world.

To protect the environment, governments of many countries have done a lot. Legislative steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to protect the forest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution. Therefore, governments are playing the most important role in the environmental protection today.

In my opinion, to protect environment, the government must take even more concrete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importance of environmental protection through education. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the population planning policy into practice, because more people means more pollution. Finally, those who destroy the environment intentionally should be severely punished. We should let them know that destroying environment means destroying mankind themselves.

Of course ,not only government but also everyone should make a contribution to protect the environment.Have you ever thrown any litter onto the groundHave you ever drawn pictures on public wallsHave you ever cut down treesIf your answers are "No",it means that you have already helped protect our environment. Protecting our environment is everyone's business.

  Thank you !

i have the answer to a question that we've all asked. the question is, why is it that the letter x represents the unknown? now i know we learned that in math class, but now it's everywhere in the culture -- the x prize, the x-files, project x, tedx. where'd that come from?

about six years ago i decided that i would learn arabic, which turns out to be a supremely logical language. to write a word or a phrase or a sentence in arabic is like crafting an equation, because every part is extremely precise and carries a lot of information. that's one of the reasons so much of what we've come to think of as western science and mathematics and engineering was really worked out in the first few centuries of the common era by the persians and the arabs and the turks.

this includes the little system in arabic called al-jebra. and al-jebr roughly translates to “the system for reconciling disparate parts.“ al-jebr finally came into english as algebra. one example among many.

the arabic texts containing this mathematical wisdom finally made their way to europe -- which is to say spain -- in the 11th and 12th centuries. and when they arrived there was tremendous interest in translating this wisdom into a european language.

but there were problems. one problem is there are some sounds in arabic that just don't make it through a european voice box without lots of practice. trust me on that one. also, those very sounds tend not to be represented by the characters that are available in european languages.

here's one of the culprits. this is the letter sheen, and it makes the sound we think of as sh -- “sh.“ it's also the very first letter of the word shalan, which means “something“ just like the the english word “something“ -- some undefined, unknown thing.

now in arabic, we can make this definite by adding the definite article “al.“ so this is al-shalan -- the unknown thing. and this is a word that appears throughout early mathematics, such as this 10th century derivation of proofs.

the problem for the medieval spanish scholars who were tasked with translating this material is that the letter sheen and the word shalan can't be rendered into spanish because spanish doesn't have that sh, that “sh“ sound. so by convention, they created a rule in which they borrowed the ck sound, “ck“ sound, from the classical greek in the form of the letter kai.

later when this material was translated into a common european language, which is to say latin, they simply replaced the greek kai with the latin x. and once that happened, once this material was in latin, it formed the basis for mathematics textbooks for almost 600 years.

but now we have the answer to our question. why is it that x is the unknown? x is the unknown because you can't say “sh“ in spanish. (laughter) and i thought that was worth sharing.

Knowledge is one thing, virtue is another; good sense is not conscience, refinement is not humility, nor is largeness and justness of view faith.Philosophy, however enlightened, however profound, gives no command over thepassions, no influential motives, no vivifying principles.

Liberal Education makes not the Christian, not the Catholic, but thegentleman. It is well to be a gentleman, it is well to have a cultivatedintellect, a delicate taste, a candid, equitable, dispassionate mind, a nobleand courteous bearing in the conduct of life--these are the connatural qualitiesof a large knowledge; they are the objects of a University; I am advocating, Ishall illustrate and insist upon them; but still, I repeat, they are noguarantee for sanctity or even for conscientiousness, they may attach to the manof the world, to the profligate, to the heartless, pleasant, alas, andattractive as he shows when decked out in them. Taken by themselves, they do butseem to be what they are not; they look like virtue at a distance, but they aredetected by close observers, and on the long run; and hence it is that they arepopularly accused of pretense and hypocrisy, not, I repeat, from their ownfault, but because their professors and their admirers persist in taking themfor what they are not, and are officious in arrogating for them a praise towhich they have no claim. Quarry the granite rock with razors, or moor thevessel with a thread of silk, then may you hope with such keen and delicateinstruments as human knowledge and human reason to contend against those giants, the passion and the pride of man.

I believe it is in my nature to dance by virtue of the beat of my heart, the pulse of my blood and the music in my mind. So I dance daily.

The seldom-used dining room of my house is now an often-used ballroom — anopen space with a hardwood floor, stereo, and a disco ball. The CD-changer hassix discs at the ready: waltz, swing, country, rock-and-roll, salsa, andtango.

Each morning when I walk through the house on the way to make coffee, Iturn on the music, hit the "shuffle" button, and it's Dance Time! I dance aloneto whatever is playing. It's a form of existential aerobics, a movingmeditation.

Tango is a recent enthusiasm. It's a complex and difficult dance, so I'm upto three lessons a week, three nights out dancing, and I'm off to Buenos Airesfor three months of immersion in tango culture.

The first time I went tango dancing I was too intimidated to get out on thefloor. I remembered another time I had stayed on the sidelines, when the dancingbegan after a village wedding on the Greek island of Crete. The fancy footworkconfused me. "Don't make a fool of yourself," I thought. "Just watch."

Reading my mind, an older woman dropped out of the dance, sat down besideme, and said, "If you join the dancing, you will feel foolish. If you do not,you will also feel foolish. So, why not dance?"

And, she said she had a secret for me. She whispered, "If you do not dance,we will know you are a fool. But if you dance, we will think well of you fortrying."

Recalling her wise words, I took up the challenge of tango.

A friend asked me if my tango-mania wasn't a little ambitious. "Tango? Atyour age? You must be out of your mind!"

On the contrary: It's a deeply pondered decision. My passion for tangodisguises a fearfulness. I fear the shrinking of life that goes with aging. Ifear the boredom that comes with not learning and not taking chances. I fear thedying that goes on inside you when you leave the game of life to wait in thefinal checkout line.

I seek the sharp, scary pleasure that comes from beginning something new —that calls on all my resources and challenges my mind, my body, and my spirit, all at once.

My goal now is to dance all the dances as long as I can, and then to sitdown contented after the last elegant tango some sweet night and pass on becausethere wasn't another dance left in me.

So, when people say, "Tango? At your age? Have lost your mind?" I answer,"No, and I don't intend to."

  Good afternoon, everyone,

The national student sports program, waged by the Ministry of Education and aimed at improving students health, was held from 10:00a.m.~11:00a.m.on April 29,2019 in many primary and middle schools all over China. Almost 11 million students in Jiangsu province participated in this program.

The Ministry of Education advocates that we do exercises for one hour a day and can work healthily for 50 years. Our whole life will be very enjoyable.

In my opinion, we senior high school students should do exercises for one hour a day even though our spare time is limited. Health is a basic condition for our study. If we did not do exercises, we wouldn’t be able to get good study records. So every one of you, join the program now!

  Thank you!

Everybody is good, the title of my speech today is "my dream"

Everyone have a dream, and is very good, I am no exception. I have a little dream, when I succeed at the goal, to accomplish more dreams. Beginning, I was a baby, a thought become very strong, like the children in the shaolin temple, martial arts high strength. But I think to leave my parents to far away places to practice martial arts, hard work, a little loathe to give up. During my childhood, I have a dream, I hope I have the money. Adults asked: "little girl, with money you are going to do?" "I'm going to buy bubble gum" "if you have a lot of money?" "I'm going to buy a lot of bubble gum" "if you have money to burn?" "I'll do buy bubblegum factory." Innocent childhood we, indeed, have a kind heart, happiness and happiness is a the same piece of music.

Slowly into the primary school, courses more and more deep, knowledge more and more... Will feel the pressure. Now I have a dream. I hope I don't have a lot of homework to do every day. Play a little deprived, and 40% of the day we imprisoned in the classroom, a lot of time in learning. But in the face of learning, is a kind of fuzzy knowledge. As the saying goes, "a rare confused," the understanding of things, from feudalism to capitalism, the greater the more feel that their views are right. After a busy day and night lessons every day home from school, he was sleepy and tired, no taste to eat food taken late at night. This life is very monotonous, maybe sometimes miss many of my primary school classmates, sometimes with a class or a pair of hazy sleep. Hate rigid school clothes, I never wear it everywhere. On Saturday, Sunday's time is very short, children really want to temper, slowly understand life's too hard, hard and dream ok, I will try to see everyone in to life and got up early to catch late, grasp myself no longer loose. I also want to strive for their dreams.

  My speech finished, thank you!

Being grateful is an important philosophy of life and a great wisdom. It is impossible for anyone to be lucky and successful all the time as long as he lives in the world .We should learn how to face failure bravely and to try to deal with it.

I think we should be grateful to life whenever we are unsuccessful or unlucky. Only by doing this can we find our weakness and shortcomings when we fail .We can also get relief and warmth when we are unlucky. Being grateful is a way to sing for our life which comes just from our love and hope.

"Maybe you will forget those who shared pleasure with you, but you willremember those who tasted tears with you. " Kahlil Cirbran

---- kahlil Girbran

Everyone has a lot of friends and he must have his own friendship as well. But usually only when you get into trouble, will you know what the truefriendship is. The friend in need is the friend in deed. Only the real friendswill help you when you are in trouble. If you establish your friendship when youare in trouble, make it go on forever.

Maybe a boy and a girl become good friends. They feel very happy when theyare each other, but other students may think that they have fallen in love. Ifyou were one of them, what would you do? If I were in that position, I would notcare about what anyone else may say. I only care about her feeling. We shouldknow that our friendship is pure without anything bad mixed. Friendship is veryimportant for everyone, so I will let my friendship last forever.

Everyone should know that he can not lose his opposite sex friends. If you donot make friends with your opposite sex classmates, then you have already losthalf of the friends. So you can make friends with all your classmates, and don'tbe shy. You should also pay enough attention to the friendship that you havealready established. Don’t undermine it unless you want to hurt him. You shouldnever try to do so, for if you do that you will lose much in emotion.

Please cherish everything that you have already possessed. Maybe you don'tcare about it now. But when you lose it, you will find that how important itis.

no matter you are happy or sad, do it now. the power of a smile is large. it can make all of us feel happy including yourself. smile to the world, to others and to everything.

  Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen:

When I was in the primary school, I have a dream. I want to invent a device which could bring you from one place to another in no time at all. When I was in the secondary school, my dream was to study in my ideal university. And when eventually I got into the university, my dream was to graduate.

How pathetic! When we grow up, we dream less and become more realistic. Why? Why do we have to change our dreams, so, so in order to let it be

Ladies and gentlemen, the reality is not real. It is a barrier keeping us from all the possible fantasies. Flying, for example, had been a dream to mankind for thousands of years. A hundred years ago,

People say that our future is a battle between the reality and our dreams. And if, unfortunately, Mr. Reality wins this war, then I see no future of mankind at all. AIDS will never be curable as this IS the reality; People living in the undeveloped countries will suffer from starvation forever as this IS the reality; 4)Disputes among different countries would never be settled as this misunderstandings and intolerance IS the reality.

Ladies and gentlemen, how many of you have a dream of being able to make a lot of money? Please raise your hands. Oh, quite a number of you! Actually, ladies and gentlemen, this is not a dream, but a task. Every one of us has to make a living, right? Anyway I hope your task will be accomplished. How many of you think that you have already fulfilled your dream and that you don't dream anymore? Dear 5)adjudicators, what do you think? C.S. Lewis once said,

Now that I am a university student, my goal is to graduate with excellences. But at the same time, I have a dream deeply rooted in our future. One day, people living in the areas now 6)sweltering with the horror of wars will be able to sit with their families and enjoy their every moment. One day, people from the rich countries are willing to share what they have with those from the poor countries

and those from the poor countries will eventually be able to make their own happy living themselves. One day, different cultures in this age of globalization will coexist with tolerance and the unfriendly confrontations among them will be 7)eliminated. One day, the globe will share the dream with me and we will all contribute to making our dream come true. One day, our dream will defeat the reality!

  Thank you very much.

It’s beyond reproach that we will come across all kinds of difficulties andchallenges in our life time .Some will be subjected to frequent sadness .Somewill lose their way to move on .Thus, only when we equip ourselves with hope andcourage can we finally succeed in the uncertain future.

Forrest Gump showed so great courage in the movie that he touched me a lot. For one thing,no matter when and where Jenny got into trouble ,Forrest Gumpwould bring her out of it without thinking how dangerous the situation would be.Maybe we should all fell ashamed that we love ourselves more than we love love, but Forrest showed great courage in love .For another,Forrest gump risked hislife to save Bubba in the war. It’s courage that helped Forrest gain a series ofhonor after war .Forrest Gump is beautiful for his perseverance and touchesothers with his courage.

A person can’t do without courage in terms of love and friendship ,letalone life . A weak person may avoid the difficulties ,but a person with couragewill face up to it head-on. Therefore, let’equip ourselves with greatcourage.

Over the past couple of years, several cases of the food scandal have been disclosed on various media。 The problem of food security has bee a hot button across society。 The prevalence of food insecurity has greatly impacted public health, which the government could not afford to ignore, according to the online edition of the People Daily。 -

There are a couple of driving forces, I would argue, behind this undesirable tide。 First, in the course of the rapid economic evolution, we ignore moral education, giving rise to the rising rate of the problem。 More importantly, the lack of adequate regulation and punishment on those illegal producers enforces the trend。 -

As Confucius instructed, it is better late than never。 Prompt and strict measures should be taken to turn back this evil trend。 The government should launch a massive moral campaign to educate all citizens and draw up tougher laws to crack down on those irresponsible corporations and prohibit them from entering the food industry again。 I am firmly convinced that through our bined efforts we are bound to enjoy more risk-free foods in the days ahead。-

Ladies and Gentlemen: My topic is Honesty.

As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’stooth. This is a true story.

65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. Heoften visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted oneto keep as a treasure.

In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had toleave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one ofthe teeth from the dragon’s mouth.

He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at havingstolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on hisconscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decidedto put right his childish error. In 20__, he visited Qingdao and returned it tothe Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.

When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported onhis visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I thinkto err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correctone’s error.

Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep anhonest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of myfriends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.

Good afternoon ,ladies and gentlemen! I’m very honored to stand here and give you a short speech! my topic is Opportunities and Challenges. First, I would like to know, what does your destiny offer you? Happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something else. If I had asked this question to president Nixon, he would probably had said,”Our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.” Needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to China is the 20xx Olympic Games. Till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. How much changes have you seen? New roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction. Other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the Olympic Games that cannot be seen directly. For example, more and more people will get to know China. I’m sure the mysterious Chinese culture will attract them strongly. And the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. What is more, Olympic Games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of Chinese youth with the Olympic values and the Olympic spirit. Now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights? I’ve already said a lot about the Olympics and China. But I think everyone should use some time to think of this question, ”Does the Olympic Games have any special meaning to you?” For us, I mean the Chinese youth, 20xx Olympic Games is a tremendous gift. Because what we are waiting for is to do something significant as repaying the love given to us .The society is just like a ship, and in our dreams the captain is waving his hand and saying ”Hey! Come here and take the helm! ”How charming his voice is, but we have never heard of it in our true life. This morning, however, when we wake up, we will see the Olympic Games waving its hand. After chewing, most of us will have at least one plan about what to do for the Olympic Games. And mine is to be a “comforter” ----that is someone who will give comfort to others. At the end of my speech, I hope all the preparation will go well, and everyone will show their ability to the world. Let us seize opportunities and give a big smile to challenges.

  Youth

Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often existsin a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals.

Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul .Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .

Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . In the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.

  Thank you!

Everyone knows that diligence is the key to success. As a proverb goes: “Diligence is the mother of success.” Diligence means working hard andpersistently.

All famous people of great achievements are examples of diligence. They allowe their success to hard work. Without constant efforts, no one can expect tosucceed in doing anything great. Thomas Edison kept on working hard for a longtime before he was able to invent he electric light. Madame Curie worked hard inthe poor conditions for many years before she finally discovered radium. Somepeople may attribute success to good luck. But good luck favors those who arewell prepared and diligent people who can make use of it. So idleness can onlylead to poverty. If you do not devote yourself to your study and work, you canhardly make a living, let alone make some accomplishments.

As high school students, we must be aware that the only way to success ishard work. We must concentrate our attention on our studies, and make full useof our precious time, in order to meet the fierce challenges in the futurecompetitions. It is certain that our future success will only rest on ourconstant efforts. As a proverb goes: “Only by working hard can we reap a bumperharvest.”

  Never Give Up

“If I could reach higher, just for one moment to touch the sky…”---this is from my favorite song Reach.

When we are appreciating the passionate melody of Gloria Estefan, we could hardly imagine that she could return to the stage after her paralysis. In the year 1990, this Cuban singer was knocked down in a traffic accident, and the doctor declared that she might never walk again. But Gloria did not give up and kept up constant exercising. Just one year after the disaster, she stood up again and presented this encouraging song at the Atlanta Olympics.

Whenever I think of Gloria, I can’t help recalling my memory seven years ago, when I first entered university. Naturally shy, ordinary looking, average scores in study, just like an ugly duckling, I seemed to be the least outstanding one in my class. And the successive failures in the beginning led me into despair. “Am I destined to take the back seat to others?” Unwilling to submit to the fate, I paid more efforts on my study as well as many other activities, film dubbing, recital, drama… cause I just want to catch every little opportunity to prove myself. Constant effort yields sure success. Thanks to the competition, I received some awards and most of all, I gained the courage and confidence to face any difficulties in my life journey.

Life is just like farming, and what you can reap depends a lot on your sowing and dedication. Once you have a dream, don’t be hesitant. Your next difficult step may be the one to the top. Keep going forward, even in the toughest time, and never give up.
